Featured Artist::: Nina Nolte

Good Morning Sun Bathers!

I realize its not sun bathing weather just about anywhere right now. But it will be very soon. Today's artist, Nina Nolte, knows just how nice it will to sit in the pool in those very hot upcoming days. Ever since I was a very young kid I've loved swimming during the summer. I'm not one of those crazy I-love-swimming-so-much-I'll-do-it-year-round type people, which is why I never swam for school. But if the pool had been heated I would have at least considered it. I just really love the feeling of being in the water. I like the freeing feeling of floating combined with the cocoon feeling of being completely surrounded. I also love the way water looks. Weird I know. But that's what first drew me to Nina's paintings. The way her paintings move because of her lovely depiction of water is just stunning! I originally found Nina Nolte on The Jealous Curator blog and I really enjoy what he has to say about her paintings, "Ahhh, nothing says summer like drinkin’ and smokin’ in a pool.  I love these turban-toting, ridiculously pale ladies! I wish I knew what they were chatting about in there… I guess Nina Nolte is the only one who will ever really know. Well, if you’ll excuse me, I’m off for a quick smoke swim." :)

Now, I've never smoked in a pool, but after looking at her paintings I think I'd like to! The last two images, the ones of the boys swimming, really got to me. I love the water. Nina does such a lovely job capturing it.

Be sure to visit Nina Nolte's website for more of her paintings!

  2. Wow, you're right, the light boy is fantastic, especially the first one. How gorgeous.

    You have such a gift at finding (or just knowing about) great artists. I am continually stunned.

  4. I love the ghostly quality of the works. They communicate this transient nature of an almost self-destructive life style typified in suburban culture.
