This morning I'm so happy to share with you the lovely, silly and sassy Tara from SewTara! I first met Tara when I stumbled upon one of her famous Scrap Swaps and absolutely couldn't refuse. Of course now I'm totally addicted :) Thank you so much Tara for being here with us today!
Tara's also offered to giveaway one of her WORLD FAMOUS cup cozy's so be sure to read to the end!
1. Tell us a little bit about you as a person
I'm Tara, I'm a wife, mom, teacher and now blogger and shop owner! {{{And adorable sleepy head!}}}
2. Tell us how/why you started Sew Tara
I started my blog at the very end of my second maternity leave when I was dying to be something more than just 'Mommy'. I was home with a baby about to turn 1 and a just 3 year old and decided to use what little time I had to myself to be creative again. I accidentally found some of the crafty blogs out there and started my own as a sort of journal of my creativity. In the beginning it was just for me. But of course with creating things comes more and more ideas, and then you have all those creations lying around, I started to sell at craft fairs and eventually decided to open an Etsy shop.
3. What are some of your favorite things about blogging and your blog in particular?
I still love the whole personal journaling aspect of my blog. I'm writing for me and creating things only leads to more ideas and creations. It's also really fun to see more and more people reading and commenting. Most of my reader's are women and the online community is so supportive and encouraging.
4. What is your favorite or least favorite post on your blog?
I love posts with lots of comments, my recent post for the Sew Mama Sew giveaway was amazing! There were hundreds of comments and it was so great to read them all and hear everyone's kind words. It was truly a fantastic experience, I wanted to give out 300 prizes!
5. Who are some other bloggers that inspire you?
I'm subscribed to a bunch of creative blogs. Wild Olive and Keyka Lou are among my tags. I love to check One Pretty Thing on a regular basis. Along with Frugal Family Fun Blog for great craft ideas to use in my class and at home with my boys.
6. Tell us about your craft and how you got started
At first I was selling baby and kid items, probably a reflection of what my life was about at that time, but one day last summer I had a funny idea for a cup cozy and it seemed I was on to something. Cozies have been my signature item since then and I've learned a whole lot of new skills while I've perfected them. There are a lot of people making cup cozies but the twist I put on mine are the witty sayings or pop culture references. I like sharing the little jokes with all my customers. {{{Visit Tara's shop HERE}}}
7. What has been your best experience through your Etsy shop?
I just love making something that I thought of and made me chuckle and then find out it put a smile on someone else's face. It's great that people can enjoy something I've enjoyed creating.
Thank you so much for participating in our "interrogation" series Tara! It was such a pleasure to have you here! I'll bet everyone is just dieing to know which cozy you are going to giveaway! So ladies and gentlemen here it is:
