Today's artist is a well renowned LA based Assemblage Artist named Barry Krammes. He was also one of my professors at University. I have always loved his work. It's beautiful and very moving to be in the same room with {I've had the privilege of seeing all of the following pieces in person!}. While he and I did not always see eye to eye {we had a few heated conversations while I was working on my Senior Thesis Show}, I respect him deeply as a person, a Christian, and an artist. Besides the fact that he's totally hilarious. Definitely one of the silliest people I know :) I wish you all could meet him.

Wow. To be totally honest, I think it's amazing and quite a spectacle, but at the same time I feel uncultured and echo my parents in saying, "I don't get it."
ReplyDeleteI feel bad when I don't "get" someone's art. I know so much of art is left to ~interpretation~ and not ~translation~, but still... I'd love to improve my eye and understand things like this better.
I love all the little details that pop out as you stare at each of the pieces longer.
