Yesterday The Beard and I went to the MFA {Boston's Museum of Fine Arts} to see one of their temporary exhibitions featuring work from Ori Gersht. Gersht is an Israeli photographer and video artist. Most of the pieces we saw yesterday were inspired by 17th century still life paintings and it's incredible how similar his photos look to those paintings. Some of his other work we got to see are photos/videos of lovely floral arrangements exploding!

Here is one of his videos of a bird falling into water. I think it's the most beautiful video art piece I've ever seen. It's so elegant and the colors are stunning. Not to mention the clarity which you can't really see in this version, it's crystal clear and looks so much like a painting. Amazing. Also this version isn't the full video.
What do you guys think? Amazing how he uses filters and digital tools to make his work resemble paintings isn't it?

I was skeptical about the video, I must admit. But you're right! It's absolutely beautiful! Breathtaking even! Me=proven completely wrong. The exploding roses photo is also a favorite. I feel like entire books could be written off premises that could be inferred from that photo.
ReplyDeleteI love the MFA! I get in for free with my student id so I might just have to go check this out!
